Our Senior Pastor - Tom Stringfellow

Tom Stringfellow has served as a pastor for nearly 30 years, and has led First Baptist Church of Beverly Hills since 1989. Pastor Tom holds undergraduate degrees in Business Administration and Religious Education, plus a Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary He has several articles published and is the author of Parakaleo: The Heart Of Deacon Ministry and co-author of The Boomerang Mandate.

Dr. Stringfellow and his wife, Riette, married in 1964. They have three daughters and nine grandchildren. Riette is a registered nurse.

In addition to his pastoral duties, Dr. Stringfellow serves as a part-time Professor of Practical Ministry at Golden Gate Baptist Seminary. He also teaches Supervisory Training for the Home Mission Board and Deacon Ministry throughout California. For the past year and a half, he has served as President of the California Southern Baptist Convention.

 

Our Associate Pastor - James Detwiler

James Detwiler has served as the associate pastor at First Baptist Church of Beverly Hills since January 2006. Born and raised in Kentucky, Pastor James holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Kentucky. He is currently working on a Master of Divinity degree at Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary (GGBTS).

James and his wife, Meredith, married in 2004. The two met while serving as missionaries in Hawaii, China, and Thailand. They continue to serve together at First Baptist Church of Beverly Hills, where Meredith leads the Women's Ministry. Meredith is also pursuing a Master of Divinity from GGBTS.  The couple recently had their first child, Eden Moriah, in May 2007.

In his spare time, James enjoys pursuing his interests in music, sports, and writing.
