James & Meredith Detwiler
Lead Pastor - James Detwiler
James Detwiler has served at FBC Beverly Hills for since 2006, first as an Associate Pastor and now as Lead Pastor. Born and raised in Kentucky, Pastor James holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Kentucky and a Master of Divinity degree from Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary.
James and his wife, Meredith, married in 2004. The two met while serving as missionaries in Hawaii, China, and Thailand. They continue to serve together at First Baptist Church of Beverly Hills, where Meredith leads the Women's Ministry. Meredith has an undergraduate degree in Theatre from the University of Washington and has pursued graduate work in theological studies, missions, and more. The couple had their first child, Eden Moriah, in May 2007.
In his spare time, James enjoys pursuing his interests in music, sports, and writing. Click here to learn more about James and Meredith.
Larry Raspberry
Music Director - Larry Raspberry
FBC of Beverly Hills has benefited from the musical talents of Larry Raspberry for the past two decades. Larry is an accomplished musician, who began his career with The Gentrys - an American band of the 1960s and early 1970s, known for their 1965 hit "Keep on Dancing." Larry's style of music can best be described as one part Gospel, one part Blues, and two parts Rock n Roll.
Brent Sewell
Contemporary Music Leader - Brent Sewell
For the past 11 years, Brent has led worship at various churches, events, and missions trips. He currently leads music for our morning worship service, which features a full band. His goal is to facilitate relevant, authentic, and intimate worship through song while being open to the Holy Spirit's leading. According to Brent, "There's something freeing and life changing when people lift their voices in praise and listen to our Creator God."
Brent has an undergraduate degree from Texas A&M and is now furthering his music education at the Musician's Institute in Los Angeles. He serves alongside his amazing and loving wife, Lori-Beth, to whom he's been married for almost two years. Their prayer is for God to continue to be glorified at FBC Beverly Hills.
Our Location
Conveniently located between the cities of West Hollywood and Beverly Hills, we are south of Sunset Blvd., north of Santa Monica Blvd., two blocks east of Doheny on Cynthia Street.
There is street parking (be sure to curb your wheels) and a church parking lot on Wetherly Drive just north of the church building.
